**Fun Fact:** The name “Auntee” is a creative blend of two words, reflecting our club’s embrace of creativity. When I was a little girl, my big brother used to call me “Teeta” or “Teeta Wee” when he was looking for me. He had difficulty pronouncing words with the letter “L,” which made his “L” sound like a “W.” This affected how he said my name, Sheila, making it sound like /’shē′wuh/ instead of /’shē′luh/. Since we were only two years apart, we grew up very close, like two peas in a pod. Because he often called my name, he decided to create a special nickname for me, and it became my household name even after he learned to pronounce the letter “L” correctly.
The nickname evolved further when my big sister had her first son. While my nephew was learning to talk, she taught him to call me “Aunt Tee”, which is short for Aunt Teeta/Wee. Hearing my nieces and nephews, or anyone else, call me “Auntee” reminds me of the story behind the name and reinforces the idea that with determination and perseverance, challenges can be overcome.
